I’ve loved my Skx173 since I got it over a decade ago. It reminded me of a friend’s Seiko from college. I was warned of the dangers of “modding” but I thought what could I do to this watch to make it better? I thought not a thing until, titanium?!? I’ve loved that metal as long as Seikos. To me, polishing titanium is a sin. It looks like the steel case but lighter. I went with Watch and Style because they have the most beautiful sandblasted titanium case out there. So after some super fast shipping and a little stem trimming by the friendly staff here, I had it in my hands ready to drop my 7s26 right in today! It’s more beautiful in person. The stem worked and all I had to worry about was the caseback- it’s made for the NH movement so it’s 0.5mm shallower. I just didn’t tighten it up all the way. Sure it’s not probably watertight, but the titanium caseback needs to be on there. But the best part besides the beauty of titanium is the weight. It wears as beautiful as it looks. The light weight is a joy to wear. The coin edge bezel is elegant and more grippy than the original. I put on an extra bezel I had from when I took my Tuna bezel to black and it popped right in and thank goodness I had it lined up nicely. This is the middle of the road cost wise(I’ve seen them $165 to over $200) but the only one that is sandblasted. Which it really brings out the dark richness of the titanium. If you want it to look bone stock but lightweight, go for the polished, but this baby is in a class by itself.
