Every numeral and baton on this face stands proud of the surface in the same gun metal as the ground behind it, so the scale is picked out by relief and shadow rather than by paint or fill — the Yacht Master trick, and the reason the face keeps working when the light is flat. The track is the dive layout, graduated minute by minute across the first fifteen and then marked at every five, with a triangle at 12. There's no colour anywhere on it, so it takes on whatever the dial and hands are already doing.
